The PurposeEnergy Tribrid-Bioreactor™ is a powerful, high-efficiency anaerobic digester that metabolizes organic wastes streams – including liquids, and slurries,– into biogas (methane and carbon dioxide). Our patented, self-buffering technology features an adequate biomass and alkalinity to maintain a stable pH without routine caustic additions.
The heterogeneous mixture is pumped into a liquifaction chamber where the organic solids are rendered soluble. These soluble sugars and organic acids are then converted to biogas. Soluble COD is then circulated into the high-rate chamber where the wastewater is further “polished” as more soluble COD is converted into biogas. Not only does the process clean the water by removing the organic load, it also produces fuel. Mature anaerobic liquor is returned by gravity to the beginning of the high-rate inner chamber to provide alkalinity and seed the fresh waste stream. This buffers the system to prevent biological upsets and eliminates the need for expensive chemical pretreatment.
